Hello

Hey everyone just thought I would introduce myself. Been looking at the site as a guest for a while but recently joined, sadly I don't own any rotary cars, but want to get a FD. Been my dream car for a while, currently i drive a 06 tiburon. Joined so i could learn more about the rotary cuz they are fascinating to me on how they work and reliable they are. I am hoping to one day own a Rx7. Nice to meet everyone. Forgot my name is Scott, I'm 22 and from Northern Va

Welcome. Are you looking for a daily driver or just an occasional use fun toy?

Kicker98 02-12-2013 11:55 AM

A daily driver would be awesome but an occasional fun car would be also haha. I have been looking for a while and probably will be looking for a while got a lot going on unless i find one that i could afford. I am about to graduate form college so the loans are going to come fml and also I'm getting married in around a year. Also i forgot to mention I live in Northern Virginia.

An RX8 is a more practical DD. You still get the rotary rush, great handling, and a back seat. For probably less than the FD with arguably better reliability. The FD is a gorgeous car though.

Yea i love the FD and how it looks, I just want one really haha whether it be for DD or fun haha

Fendamonky 02-12-2013 09:30 PM

Heya Scott, welcome to the forum. I live in Alexandria, you're welcome to swing by on the weekend when I'm working on mine if ya want.

Anyway, the FD is a great and fun car, but I DEFINITELY wouldn't want to have that as a Daily Driver.

Kicker98 02-12-2013 09:47 PM

Cool, I am currently going to school in Southern VA at Ferrum College. I'll prob get a craigslist junker or keep the tiburon and get an FD when ever I can. Has anyone imported a car on this site before from japan? Because I was looking and I can get an FD for around 4 grand idk prob doesn't include shipping but still bada$$ haha

Fendamonky 02-13-2013 07:53 AM

I wouldn't try to get one from Japan, importing it will be a bitch and having it LEGALLY registered will be essentially impossible.

I bought my FD just before being stationed in England 6 years ago, I contemplated just getting a RHD one there and having the military ship it back for me. I decided against it because the non-US ones just aren't legal on the street here.

Kicker98 02-13-2013 02:46 PM

Yea after doing research i found that out, sucks the US wont let them be legal. It will probably be a while till i get an RX7 but one day I'll own one.

Here is a picture of my current ride:

Hopefully it will be a FD one day

any vehicle that is prior to the birth year 1993, can now be imported. it has to be 20yrs or older to be imported with no changes other than swapping out the shatterproof side glass.

Kicker98 02-18-2013 03:37 PM

really where did you hear/read that from? If so i will be waiting one year then so I can import one haha

Yeah, good luck with that one...

Fendamonky where did you get your FD from??

Chad D. 02-19-2013 12:31 PM

You can always import a car from Canada, that has been imported originally from Japan. But FD as a DD is truly a financial disaster. I know. lol.

I got mine from a member on rx7club back in 2006, the previous owner had it in Northern Virginia.

No, you can't, it isn't that simple...

But yeah, using an FD as a daily driver is a bad idea.
