new and need help
 

Hey guys i could not ha e joined at a better tim..... I have an 83 rx7 GSL bone stock with exceotion of rims and tires. But heres my issue........ I have to find some way to change th universal joints quick. I took it to a machine shop amd they said they wouldnt touch it. Im at a loss i know how they come out just dont ha e the ability to do it. Please any suggestions would be great!!

And by the way do you guys have an android app?????

MazdaTrix has the driveshaft that uses replaceable u-joints if you ever wear them out again.

About the fastest way to get you back on the road reliably that I can think of, since you can't find a shop to replace them and rebalance the shaft.

Yeah gunny it just takes a hot minute to get it here. But i already put my order in and baught an all illuminum shaft so i am looking forward to that which is a big plus. I just hate not being able to drive her for the next week

In other words... the first gen, like the second gen, comes from the factory with non replaceable u-joints.

83 and up, sadly.

Yeah so i figured it out at mid bight last night ..... With a littl drimel work the anchors that hold them in can be filed out and then from there the after market u joints slid right in and locked in with a littl c clamo alo g the bottom of each bearing. So i git it back underthe car and drove it just now thirty minutes back to work no issues! Wish me luck that it stays that way at least till the new drive shaft gets here!

okay so i lied the c clips tha cam with it didnt hold up. but since i have a new one coming any way i am going weld the u joint in and see does that work. i have a bad feelikng that it is going to faul up the bearings but it is certainly worth a shot. i have been taking some pics and vids along the way just in case it works out i can share with you guy. BUT...... ultimatly i can wait for my new drive shaft to come in and get it installed!!!

Gunny im gonna tel you what buddy it has turned into a night mare for sure. All i can do is sit and wait till my new shaft comes it. Amd it will certainly be $260 well spent just to have the piece of mind knowing that i will never have to change it again!!!!

There are some folks in the KC area that meet up once in a while. I also hang out with the 417Rotary guys out of Missouri. The 417 crew is fairly active and usually have a few events each year. Finding other rotary fans hereabouts is rather difficult. :lol:

Wish I'd realized you were that close. I could have referred you to Kyle (Rotary Doctor) down in Neosho, Mo. He has quite a few parts cars on site and probably could have come up with a workable used unit for you. If you need work or used parts, Kyle's the go to guy in these parts.
