so where do i buy the 13b coils to make this happen i know the rx7 club forum has pictures and diagrams of it up on their page looks pretty simple actually i just need to get my hands on it to get it going i think that with the new exhaust in combination will make a huge difference. especially knowing that i am not gonna be just dumping gas out the ass end of my car

FC parts section and the junk yard are the best place to pick some up

The 2GCDFIS is ok but seems to eat up the ignitors over time. Its a really cheap and easy
upgrade for the money tho. You can get used 2G coils from the JY or from someone on one of the sites. A better solution is what I have done to create the ignition for my SA. The parts are very cheap, easy to find, and its a better setup for longevity than the 2G coil setup. I have it documented in the 1st gen section of the 7club (don't hate on me please). I won't directly link it here but the title is "Tfidfis". Just search you'll find it. Uses GM HEIs and Ford TFI solid state coils. Quite few folks have done this conversion and are successful at it even with very little experience with ignitions or wiring. |
there is nothing wrong with the MSD and aftermarket coil setup, it still beats all the DLIDFIS and 2GDFIS mods, because they still rely on the J-109 ignitor which is the weak point. the MSD does away with the j-109 ignitor. i even tried the modded version creating a ignitor amp, which was the best output but the amp box would overheat on hot days and cut out for 15 minutes.
once you start pushing the limits you will see how poor those conversions in fact are, though most will never notice the difference or really need it. the FC coils are great but using the 1st gen electronic distributor still causes them to fall on their face after 4500RPMs at even 200whp+ ranges. |
Damn decisions decisions where to start????

almost 2x the power and you can get HPO versions for more spark energy. Plus my solution costs about 1/10 that of an MSD or other ignition box variants out there. Literally, the plug wires are the big money items compared to the HEI and TFI coils (if you grab them from the JY). |

ignition up. Do the one that you feel the most confident in achieving. Once you get familiar with playing around with the ignition you can move on to a more ambitious project. Key here is to have fun. |
Yeah i think today i am goiing to hit up the salvage yards and see what i can find and then go from there fortunatly my drive shaft comes in today and i will also be installing my exhaust so that will be a big plus
