I am building this guide as a one-stop shop for identifying rotary parts. It is broken down by category (i.e. housings, rotors, front covers, etc) then again by model. There will be an "other" sub-section for non-Mazda wankel information as well.

The order of infomation might also get jossled around as time goes on to make a logically progression.

If anyone can provide missing information that would be excellent! Credit will be given. I just ask that for pictures the original be sent to me and be similiar in format (if able) to the pictures used here.

Details

• Found in the early Cosmo, R100, some RX-3
• 9.2:1 or 9.4:1 compression ratio {conflicting reports}

12A (1971 - 1973)

• Found in twin-dizzy cars
• Cast combustion chamber
• 9.2:1 compressionr ratio

12B (1974 - 1978)

Details

• Found in (74-78) RX-2 and (74-78) RX-3, with single dizzy.
• Cast combustion chamber

13B "AP" (1974 - 1980)

Details

• Found in the Rotary Pickup, RX-3 SP, RX-4 and Cosmo (RX-5 outside U.S.)

Lawnmower

• Really damn small
• Side seals only on ONE side of the rotor. This side is the "bottom" as the rotor lays flat.

Early 12A housings

There are actually differences between the front and rear housings.

The rear has "TCP" case into the top.
