Another wiper issue
Yesterday on my way home in the pouring rain, the passenger wiper stopped moving. The drivers still works just fine.
I got home and pulled the cowl and it's still attached, the wiper just moves freely though. Didn't get much past that, since it was pouring. Any idea what is happening? |
Were the splines on the wiper arm and linkage still intact? If those strip, I'd image the linkage would turn and the arm would just stay in place.
|
I'll pull it tonight (i was fed up of the rain) and see. The splines were fine last winter when I replaced the other wiper arm.

Or something went wrong with the linkage... You only have one wiper motor. The wiper motor distributes force through a linkage that splits between the two wipers. If the wiper arm(s) were removed recently, I would tend to blame that the splines got messed. There's still a remove possibility that a linkage pivot (plastic) failed or popped off... -Ted |

If the later happend, how the hell do I fix that, besides hit it with a tack weld and hope it holds. |
Drill a small hole through the arm and the shaft and press in a split pin if you can not find good parts .
|
I ended up finding that the shaft's end is basically riveted to hold on the press fit slave arm (if that makes sense). I ended up drilling it on one side and inserting a sheet metal screw between the two. Works like a charm, although pulling it was a real pain in the butt.
