2nd Gen Electric Fan Mounting Recommendations

I'm looking for a mount system for an electrical fan to use on my Koyo rad rather than using these:

My universal fan recently removed:

The mounts for that fan:

Damage from the fan sliding off those mounts on the radiator:

What I'm looking for is to delete the zip-tie mounts, using a fan with permanent mounts that will work with the 2nd gen Koyo, or ideas on fabricating my own for a particular dimension fan that I can make fit my Koyo without use of the universal zip-ties. . . what have y'all used?

I made measurements of the cooling fin surface and all possible mounting points but I am stumped with what fan to buy, curious of anyone's opinions for options/suggestions. .

This is mine... A custom made shroud with a 3k cfm Flex-a-Lite fan mounted about 3" away from the radiator to draw vacuum.

Problem solved! contacted the fabricator Vinnie used and will soon make a visit. Thanks Vinnie!

I made my own out of fiberglass. Here's an unfinished picture:

And one mocked up under the hood:

I'm curious about the aluminum one above. Does it have some contour or is it more of a "box?" I liked the idea of an aluminum shroud but didn't have the provisions to make a nice, contoured shape. The good thing about a flatter aluminum shroud is it's easy to make "flaps" that open when the car is moving to improve flow.

Got mine made, now Vinnie and I are twinsies :cheers2:

^^^ To restate my previous question is the shroud "flat" or does it have some contour to it? From the picture it looks to be more flat. On the other hand it looks like you could easily add "flaps" that open when the car is moving to increase airflow when the fan isn't needed.

FC Zach 11-25-2014 08:38 AM

Yeah Jon, it's flat. I have the largest diameter fan that could fit on there thinking it would remedy that possible issue.

Looking good broseth...... But mine is slightly different at the outlets so no twinsies for you.
