unknown tranny
1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone help me i.d. this tranny? I t was attached to the rear-end of an '74 13 B rotary engine in an old Triumph TR 7 that I had.
I would like to sell it and so need to know the year and application of it. Any help welcome. Thanks |
Integrated shifter and bell suggest early rx/ series 1 rx7? Not an expert on early stuff however.
Try looking through here for confirmation: Everything you would ever want to know about Mazda gearboxes |
That does appear to be from a 1979 to 1980 RX7.
http://ts1.mm.bing.net/th?&id=JN.ATc...9&rs=0&p=0&r=0 The front one marked SA appears to be the same as your transmission. The 79-80 model RX7s are usually referred to as an SA as opposed to the 81-85 RX7 which is referred to as an FB model (rear transmission). |
North american chassis codes were different but in Japan and aus, all first generation rx7s were SA22C, generally referred to in aus as s1 (integrated selector), s2 & s3 delineated by bumpers/brakes/g-box/diff/oil cooler changes between 79 & 84/5 build.
