Ray Crowe "help" email scam
 

Hey all, I know MANY people have recently received an email from Ray Crowe requesting help, claiming he's stuck in the Philippines and needs money.

It is a scam, his email got grabbed, he's safe and fine here in the states. I would just delete/disregard the email you received. If you send "him" money via western union thats on you... if you reply and antagonize the person on the other end, and they then hack your email... that's also on you :lol:

Why is the rx7/rotary scene so full of this kind of bullshit? Is it like that with all car scenes or is this like the slum of the car world?

I'm not sure what you mean... I've been in the rotary community for 9 years and this is the first time I've seen a pillar of thd community get their email hacked and used to send our phishing type scam mails..

^Same here. This kind of scam isn't new, and it's not something that just happens in the rotary community.

In this case, the scammers just happened to compromise Ray's email account, put 2+2 together and made an educated guess from email contents that everyone on Ray's contact list are probably all friends of his, and they used the friendship/sympathy angle to try to scam us all out of cash shotgun style. If 1 out of 100 of us on Ray's contact list fell for it, they would be ahead of the game. No different than any other online scam.

Have you actually spoke with Ray and confirmed this? :suspect: I recently ordered a TO bearing for my 8 and it came with a Philippine bride, I was a little confused at first but Maggie and I had our fun and then sent her back... I'm still waiting on the refund so I figured Ray must have been in trouble.

I got that email too, but my girl was Chinese. I got a knock-off. Sons a bitches.
