Idea for engine importers.
Hey guys, I was thinking about starting up a poll on engine importers.
They way it would go, every time someone has a good transaction, give that importer a +1 on the poll. All negatives could be posted down below in the thread. The only problem is, I don't know many importers. Go ahead and toss out some engine importers with their links so we can get this rolling if you like it. If you don't then let me know and we can kill this idea. |
If we do this it would be nice if people make sure a deal is complete before leaving feedback. For example if a motor is supposed to be making 100psi compression both rotors and they leave feedback when the motor arrives instead of when they install the motor the rating could be misleading in the event that the motor was actually blown or something.

No feedback until the motor is in, tested, and running. Then include price, turnaround time, and overall experience. That format seems concise and rather well focused. You think there is anything else that would benefit this? Speak up now. We drive FC's guys, our stock motors are either dead or dying. Some people opt to get a newer engine to rebuild on and this will give us a solid support line of knowing who to trust and who not to trust. -Maniac |
Sounds like a good idea.
|
Yeah, I am going to start rebuilding motors soon, and I know others will be also so it is always good to get some reputable used engine dealers to buy from for motors or rebuild cores.
|
I don't know what you guys think, but I think that 2 feedbacks would be good one upon arrival of the engine and another upon install of the engine.(just a thought probably not a good one)
|
How about for now, until we get a lot more members, every time someone gets a JDM engine, they do a thread from start of the transaction until 1000 miles on the motor? That way we can have a play by play of customer service, quality, shipping price and time, etc?
|
I don't think there is a single vendor that guarantees your engine to not be DOA upon arrival.
The ones that tried this all seem to have dropped doing this by now. The BIG engine importers don't wanna waste the time to compression check every engine, and bad engines are part of the deal... Some customers don't wanna bother returned bad engines even though these vendors have warranties / guarantees. There are some smaller vendors that do compression check J-spec engines, but these are far and few in between. Are you willing to wait months for their shipment to come in? This is where the big engine importers win out - they have monthly shipments with huge inventory turnaround. -Ted |

I think you all are missing what I was really aiming for. Any engine I buy from an importer is going to be rebuilt, no questions asked. I was more after finding out how long turnaround time is, did you get all of your stuff, did they honor any warranties they sold with the motor etc. etc. I want to start weeding out the crappy fly by night operations and see who the good guys are and who I can reasonably trust. |
It should be based on the time, compression (if they claim good compression) and customer service/warranty.
1. Order placed on this date 2. Item received on this date 3. Claimed 100psi compression/ good compression 4. video proof of you opening the package and going a compression test on the spot. 5. Customer service, correct order received, etc., etc. All on a scale of 1 to 10 or :icon_tup: to :icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup::icon_tup: or :icon_tdown: if it's BAD! If the motor loses compression between the time you received the engine and when install then you can't say it's the vendor's fault and vice-versa if you tape yourself opening up the engine and doing a compression test. |
I don't see why we can't do a rating based on, who delivers the most engines, as advertised.
|
that's the system we're all discussing. We just can't figure out something that simple and effective.
Maybe inviting them to join the forum and use the iTrader??? |
make user accounts for them all and do it via reputation?
|
hmmmm good one.
Who are the main importers? |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:41 AM. |
