Headlight problems
Hey guys, I did a quick search but couldn't find anything so here goes nothing:
Passenger side headlight burnt out last night, so I removed the plastic housing, took out old lamp and put new one in, then replaced plastic housing. All pretty straight forward, right? But when I went to put the headlights down, the driver's side one works perfectly fine while the passenger's side goes down then up to a lazy eye position. No amount of unhooking, hand cranking or otherwise trying to resequence the lights is working. I know I didn't touch any wiring or the motor when I replaced the bulb, simply unhooked the old one and plugged the new one in. And the motors for both were working perfectly fine last night. I know the motor is working because the light will still go up and down, it just won't return to either position fully: it always stops at the lazy eye position. :banghead: I'm not sure what the issue is since everything was working perfectly fine until the new bulb went in. Any help would really be appreciated. ETA: it's an 86 GX if that makes any difference. |
I'm trying really hard to avoid asking this in the 'other' forum, but this thing's my DD and I start a new job tomorrow morning. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Try disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes.

did you check the mechanism in case something got caught and won't let the headlight go all the way down?
SO you replaced the BULB and not the whole housing? You don't have the stock headlights? |
Yeah my guess is something got stuck. It could be the plastic surround or some wiring behind the headlight getting caught. I JUST replaced my first FC headlight today and discovered that the wires for the headlights can get caught easily on stuff.
