Where to Mount Oil Pressure Gauge?
2 Attachment(s)
Hades brought this up in the 3rd gen section and I thought it would be a good topic to discuss.
So you want to monitor the Lubrication system in case of epic failure. I'd want to know where to plumb the system to. So, Where is the IDEAL place to mount the OIL PRESSURE Gauge probe? http://www.rotarycarclub.com/attachm...1&d=1210217349 http://www.rotarycarclub.com/attachm...1&d=1210217381 KEYWORDS: OIL, OIL*, PRESSURE, GAUGE, LUBRICATION, MOUNT |
In the center of the front rotor.

Two before both of the pressure bypass valves.

You want to *ideally* monitor oil pressure where it's doing it's job - at the bearings. If this feasible? No. The oil filter pedestal is a good, compromise location. It's aft of the rear OPR, so it's far away from the oil pump - pressure drops first from furthest point of pressure source. Plumbing an "adapter" isn't that much of a hassle - BIG plus here. Stock oil pressure sender is about the same location - Mazda knew something we don't? -Ted |
+1 to the oil filter pedestal as well.

Oil pedestal is really easy to make aftermarket adapters to fit and it's also close to the firewall to run any lines you need into the dash for said adapters *shrug* I don't know if there are other reasons it worked well there.
