Sourcing new vacuum lines for TII - what diameter though??

I don't know if there are other, less expensive, sites but I'd appreciate input.

I am going to redo the whole engine bay (hasn't been done since BEFORE the rebuild back in 2001/2002) and I don't know what sizes are used. I can try and guess-timate again but I'll end up with hoses that I can't use.

So, what are the sizes needed for the TII?

looks like $90 + Shipping for 55 feet of vac hoses. Seems a tad high but it's cheaper than buying a car-specific kit.

umm, dude, ask kevin! I got 50 ft of 5/32 hose for like, $15 off ebay! 5/32 is what is used for most of the car, as Kevin said!

Hey look at that, for once I'm the one giving advice! :D

or buy this one and you're set for whatever car! :D

EDIT: but then, I got an S5 N/A so there might be a few hoses that are different!

That stuff may be cheaper, and would probably work in certain applications, but in my mind I would consider that hose to be very different from a high quality silicone vacuum hose.

I urge you to compare a quality silicone hose next to a hose like the ones linked above. You should be able to tell a difference.

Just my $.02, but I don't know much...

^^^ I was thinking the same thing. I dunno, 90+ shipping is still cheaper than the car specific kits and I'll get a lot of hoses!

Max777 07-31-2008 12:31 PM

I think that silicone is over-rated, since the hose I listed is OEM rated, and silicone only has limited tolerance to gasoline and oil, which cant help but be present in an engine bay...

Also, I happen to like black, and to me a bunch of blue or red silicone hoses scream rice-a-rony a little too much. Maybe If I had a GT42R to back it up?

I say, it's your money. If you think that silicone hoses are THAT much better, then go get em! The reason I posted my advice is that the same advice was given to me earlier by Kevin Landers when I needed help.
