oil/filter opinions..
what's your take on this;
94 fd w/less than 8k as of right now- gettin ready to break it out a lot more this fall- manufacturer suggests havoline-that's what's been used since new- you think? about the filter- preferred brand? and what's this i hear about using a fram 3593a instead 1008 to get better oil flow/reduced pressure- any truth to this? opinions? |
Most rotary people stay away from Fram like the Plague. I use Beck/Arnley, Mazda OEM, or Purolator Pure One filters.

I use OEM filters, and run Valvoline Racing 20w-50. Although I plan to change to something thinner this winter because the oil temps only come up when I'm not moving. OEM filters aren't really any more expensive than anything else.

for oil filter i use wix part # 51356.

i have always religiously used castrol 10-40 in winter and 20-50 the rest of the year along with purolator filters. i have had alot of rotary power vehicles and it seems to work just fine.

I use OEM filters, I can't see any reason not to.

Purolator filters is pretty much the only thing I put on any cars. I am running Castrol 10w-30 for break-in, but will switch to mobil1 15w-50 after a couple thousand miles.

The original FD filter was larger than today's Mazda one size fits all filter.
It had more filter area which would have less back pressure. I use one of the best made filters made to the original size: Purolator PureOne Oil Filter, PL14459, ht = 2.95", wt = 3.15", anti drain back |

Open up a fram filter and it looks like someone already beat you to it and stole everything but cardboard!
I use wix! |
