stance pro gr coilovers
i was thinking of getting the stance gr pro coilovers but im wondering if anybody had any experience with them?
|
i forgot to add it is for daily driving, road racing, and track.
|
what are the spring rates on these? I'm thinking they are 12k/12k off the top of my head, is that correct?
|
yep. http://www.stance-usa.com/sus/index....d=32&Itemid=44
well apparently the earlier versions (2007ish) of stance coilovers had problems with the pillowballs, but they have fixed it. |
12k/12k might be a little stiff for the street. When I was in the market for coilovers I talked to Howard Coleman and he recommended for a car that will see street use that 10k/8k or even 8k/6k would be ideal. I ended up going with Tein Flex because they were 10/8 and of course a quality product.

i heard it was slightly stiffer than the r2 suspension, but he may be wrong.

Stance has support in the USA... so that is a big pro if you ever have issues or they ever need to be rebuilt. However, you might want to look at what you want these for: street use, street/autox/light track, or strictly track use. If you are just wanting something to lower the car a little and give you a little better handling, I would upgrade to the Eibach springs with tokico illumina's(see pictures in my build thread to see how the car sits with these, that car currently has this combo) and save several hundred's of dollars. HR springs and Koni yellows are popular as well. Also, you want a slightly less still spring rate in the rear, which the stance coilovers don't have. If you want a good set of coilovers for street/autoX/light track use, the Tein Flex/HA(same thing) are highly reccommended by Howard Coleman. If you are looking for a strictly track coilover, you might want to go a little stiffer than 10k/8k. I just upgraded to R Compound tires and big brakes and am being told by some of the seasoned FD track freaks that my Tein Flex/HA's will not be enough coilover to support the tires and brakes. I'll let you know in October how that turns out.
Also, as mentioned above, check out Howard Coleman's thread about suspension. |

I'm running these on my car, with 8kg/6kg rates. Flogged my car at Buttonwillow, loved em!

I love stance for the fact that they, at least for the FC, provide better product than Tein (no EDFC though) for the price, and the coilovers are also beefier, and hold up to abuse (read: drifting) better. Stance really are great, my friends run them on their S chassis cars and both love em!
Give Touge Factory a call, they distribute these in the midwest, and I think they can hook you up with different spring rates. I remember reading about asking for different rates when you order, and like 2 or 3 choices were offered or something. PS: It might have just been an initial order thing, but give these guys a call anyway, will ya? :D http://shop.tougefactory.com/ |
