Differences in clutches

Just as the title says what are the differences in a TII clutch and a NA clutch ? Are they interchangeable ? If not what would be required to make them interchange ? I've searched a few rotary specific sites now and cant seem to find info . Thanks guys

for starters, different diameter. i guess ill add this to the FAQ.

If you want to use a TII clutch, you would need a TII flywheel of a similiar weight balancing year. The turbo flywheel is also a single plane flywheel (easy to machine) vs. the non turbo which is a stepped plane (bitch to machine).

be careful of sites like these.

notice it lists the same clutch for basically everything.

To run a TII clutch on an N/A you'll need a TII flywheel (with the appropriate series counterweight) and a TII trans, then either a custom drive shaft or the TII->N/A driveshaft from Racing Beat....or Mazdatrix, don't recall which one sells it. Or you'll need the rest of the TII driveline.

Vice versa for N/A clutch on a TII (why you'd do that I don't know :) )

The differences are the TII clutch has a larger diameter friction plate, as well as the spline count and size of the input shaft (and friction plate respecticvely) are different between the two.

the best way I have found to see if there are diffences is look on partsamerica.com and compare what I want to do to what is stock. It beats searching fourms and visiting auto stores.

I believe the turbo clutch disc diameters are 225mm.
I think the non-turbo clutch disc diameters are 205mm.

Even if you manage to work around that, the center splines are different.

Turbo is 1" x 23.
I think the non-turbo one is 15/16" x 22.
