Pressing out exhaust sleeves??

Hey, i've searched and couldnt find anything on taking the exhaust sleeves out of the rotor housings. There must be a good way of doing it but im a little nervous about frailling it with a drift and bfh. Does it need to be heated first or pressed out? Any info on these things would be helpful guys because they baffle me, no pun intended, well maybe a lil

what?

What's frailing it with a drift and big hammer?

I'd recommend taking it to a shop to have them pressed out only if you're hell bent on doing that, otherwise I say just do the "normal" route and cut it and bend 'em down.

Take a welder and put a little ball of weld on the rolled pin that holds them in from the side. Grab that little ball with vice grips and twist the pin out. The sleeves will practically fall out then.

You won't hurt anything with the welder so don't worry.

Great, thanks for the helpful info jgrewe.

As for taking it to a shop vex, you would probably have better luck trying to get the techs to speak greek.

This worked for me. I took a tap close to the inner diameter of the roll pin and made threads. I then took a screw matching the tap and used that exposed bolt hangin out to pull the four roll pins out. To pull the pins out I used a block of wood and the crows foot end of a hammer. The block of wood is just to protect the housing from damage. Very simple and easy.

You can also remove the roll pins with a screw extractor if you don't have a welder. Just takes a bit of tinkering.
