Rear diff Lube

turbo LSD unknown mileage I am going to be installing it in the car here in a few weeks I think but my question is what should I fill it with.

I was going to use redline (because I sell it) but I was unsure if you guys recommended something else.. I WONT use royal purple before u guys mention it.

K-Tune 10-04-2008 10:14 PM

...wait...you sell something and you don't know enough about it to decide to use it in your own car?

87turbo_turtle 10-04-2008 10:33 PM

i am not to sure of redline it has been pulled off the selves of the autoparts stores here...i hear royal purple is a good synthetic oil or oil replacement but i use either casrol 80w-90 or costal 80w-90

SpooledupRacing 10-05-2008 06:02 AM

Thats right I have read into Redline and I have heard of good stuff and bad stuff about it.

I have never used the redline myself.
Not only that but I know it works great in Saabs and other european cars however since I have no experience with it in an RX7 diff I figured I would to the correct thing and see what the rx7 community thinks of it.

just cause it works great in european cars does not mean it works great in rx7 diffs.

not only that but alot of you like royal Purple.. and I have done much info and analysis on it and have found I will continue to stay clear of the stuff.

And just because I sell it does not mean I stock it.. I sell LOTS OF PARTS and some of them I would not use on my car, but I know alot of people would.

RotaryXperiment 10-05-2008 08:15 AM

i would prob use it.
although i have used RP for both my diff and tranny on both my cars.

SpooledupRacing 10-05-2008 10:47 AM

yeah I will prolly use the 75w90 in the diff and the 75w90NS for the trans..

the NS is for non limited slip apps and good for transmissions.

Kenny Senter 10-05-2008 09:04 PM

how many qts?

how many for the diff and how many for the tranny?

looking to do this also.

SpooledupRacing 10-05-2008 10:15 PM

I will check tomorrow but I think its 2 for the diff and 3 for the trans..

something like that..

if u need any redline let me know..

vincentrx7 10-12-2008 08:08 PM

If you search on the otrher forum (RX7club) there is a thread on Redline vs NeoSYnthetics. BTW I read that the tranny is 3.8 qts and the diff is 1.2 qts. That thread was really pro Neo...,

SpooledupRacing 10-14-2008 09:18 AM

Yeah I don't use products I don't only because I want to be able to give my experience..

I know redline is proven in MANY cars, just wanted to see what RX7 guys thought of the product..

THX for all the info though.. atleast I know how much fluid I need to bring back home.

prrex4ever 10-14-2008 08:52 PM

I have used both Redline and Neo in both my FC and FD and I personally think Neo is better. I haven't had problems with either one but shifting seemed much smoother with the Neo stuff. Just my humble opinion.

SpooledupRacing 10-14-2008 08:58 PM

I appreciate that good sir..

currently I am more worried about the diff.. I am trying to get the Total mtl for the trans

firzen 10-15-2008 10:21 AM

Have you looked into Amsoil? I personally haven't run (on Redline right now) but alot of the mechanics and tinkerers I know swear by the stuff.

SpooledupRacing 10-15-2008 10:54 AM

No I sell Total (ELF) oil and I personally think it is FAR superior to other oils I have used and since I dont sell AMSoil I wont use it.

just my deal. If I dont sell it I wont use it. (fluids that is)

lcrotaryracer 11-01-2008 09:13 PM

2.6 to 3 qt for trans and a little over 1 qt for diff wen using lim slip tretment i know it for i did it my 87 and i work at advance auto i can tell you all the fluid capasts
