easiest way to get to exaust gasket? need tips
Got a 91 n/a with an exaust leak, probably bad gasket, coming from the manifold to the pipes, looked at it but seems like a pain to get to the bolts. Any tricks so I don't have to take the top side all apart?

Once you take the heat shield off it's pretty easy, just 2 nuts. (Mine doesn't have a heat shield, so I don't know whether or not it's hard to get off )

It is easy from underneath the car, and once the heat shield is in the trash.
While you have it off, might as well get a header! |
keep the heat shield to keep as much the heat off of the intake pipe and engine bay. Get some jackstands or ramps and get that thing off.
Search for Factory Service Manual and it'll have your car's manual. it's a step by step guide on how to remove everything and reinstalling it. I recommend a knuckle joint and a shallow socket. |
ratchet wrenches work great for getting the heat sheild bolts off. I ended up breaking snapping the heads off and then cutting the dag'gum heat sheild with tin snips but I was going with wrapped headers... anyway. Sorry for the correction on this but there should be FOUR bolts to get your mani off not two... if you only have two your missing something... And if your 5th and 6th port actuaters are still in place you will need an extension and knuckle joint like phoenix said.
