FJO Injector Driver New Version available

Just wanted to pass on that FJO racings second generation injector driver is available. It is about half the size of the first gen controller, easier to install and about $100 cheaper. I found it at Alamo Motorsports for $149.00.

The 3rd gens fuel system uses a high impedance/saturated injector. The common replacement injector for the secondary fuel rail is the Bosch 1680cc which is a low impedance/peak & hold injector (4A/1A). The problem here is two fold, first the PFC injector driver was not designed for the low impedance injector and will burn out in short order and the signal to the injector is not the correct format for what the Peak & Hold injector is designed for.

The common practice is to wire a resister between the Power FC and injector clip to bring the impedance up so you don’t burn out the injector driver but this does nothing to correct the saturated signal being sent to the peak & hold injector. It will operate this way but injector accuracy is greatly reduced. The solution is to use an FJO injector driver. It will convert the saturated signal to the correct 4a/1a signal for the injectors and also is the correct impedance for the ECU.

At $149.00 it is foolish to not use it in place of the hack job resistors.

Thanks Dan!

I might have to pick up one of these as I'll be running some 1600s.

I have the older version and does the job very well. Linear injector transition is a huge plus.

Installation

Chadwick,

When you speak of the installation, how easy is it? Electrical work is by far the weakest point in my working on the FD.

FJO's website just states that it installs between the ECU and injectors...

Not that bad, the new one has fewer wires to tap so it is an easier install. Hardest part is getting to the injector wires under the intake. Instructions are pretty easy to follow but they are not rotary specific. I would guess it to be about a 2-3 hour job if you have the right tools and know your way around under the intake manifold.

hasent this been out for awhile now? in anycase i keep reading how it makes tunning transition alot easier and what not. but on 7club they had a discusion about the board that FJO was using would only do the P/H function over 4ms if the injectors being used were not the correct ohms you would fail to reach 4A so it would not drop to the 1A hold until 4ms time had elapsed. basicly running saturated under 4ms on times. not that its a big deal with the benefits it has for other tunning areas and anything above 4ms giving you better fuel economy as well. didnt Howard Colman document a decent milage increase using this?
