What a difference the right presilencer makes...

Yo, yo, check out the old mAd TytE catalytic the previous owner put on!

Yep, it's totally hollow. And I was wondering why I couldn't hear myself think at anything over 2000 rpm.

What else is wrong? Hmm. There's no connection back to the engine for the 5th and 6th ports. Mad bolt welding skillz, yo!

If anyone can tell me what that open vacuum line is, I'd appreciate it. Also notice where the pickup for the aux ports is is wide open. I'm assuming they are wired open, but I can't tell, and don't even know where to look.

Guess what else? The O2 sensor wire is busted. Could that be why the car gasses me out every time I try to drive it?

And here's the correct RB presilencer. The car is a good 9 million dB quieter now. I gotta get the tube from there to the engine, and see what the deal is with the rest of this. I'm also going to replace the O2 sensor with a brand new one I have laying around, and replace the entire shitty, spliced wire you see in the picture. Hopefully it will have the 'vert running much, much better, and stinking much, much less.

The metal thing sticking out right where the black and red wires are spliced together. It looks like it needs a hose on it, but I don't know what for.

doesn't need to be connected to anything. just vents excess air from the airpump. Just use the air pump for actuation.

Are my 6 ports wired open? How can I tell?

I have no airpump, btw. The only thing still on the motor is the power steering. No A/C, no airpump.

I need A/C. Stat. Summer here is a bastard.

doesn't look like it... looks like the actuators are just missing. I can try to snap you a pic of mine when I get home later.

Actually, no...that's the tube that the pressurized air that would operate the 6 port actuators goes...it is a Y pipe that feeds air to the 2 actuators which (on this engine) are missing.

I think we're talking about two different hoses. The one that exits the rear of the LIM above the rear rotor intake is the hose I'm referring. Were you refering to a different one?

The split air pipe goes from the cat, to the big hose on the back of the LIM that is hanging there. On the split air pipe is a small nipple and a vacuum hose that feeds the above mentioned small Y pipe.

So even if you had the SAP you would be no better off without 6 port actuators.
It's been awhile since I actually had a SAP on my car so I very well could be mistaken, it just seems from memory that the 6PI actuators were fed by the back pressure and when the pressure was less than that the ACV routed air through the hose on the rear to heat the main cat. Am I mistaken?

Since he's installed a resonator and header combo, the SAP has pretty much become useless so wouldn't that hose then just become a vent from the Air Pump and ACV?

So if I'm missing the actuators, unless the aux ports are wired open, I'm going to be missing some high end power, yes?

See attached pic... best I could manage in the dark. You can see that the little vacuum line runs to the split air pipe under the check valve. You can also see the Air control valve and one of the port actuators that you're missing. And yes, if you're missing the actuators and the ports are not wired open, you are losing top end, conversely, if they are wired open... you lose a little low end. That's why they exist ;)

*Nevermind the green twist tie mod, I can't disclose the horse power gains per my mechanics wishes :D

I have two S5 Actuators, as well as an S5 split air pipe if you want them, free, just pay shipping if you want to try em out. I can cut the split air pipe so that it fits into a smaller box too.

Excellent. Paypal info?

pm'd!

Max777 04-14-2009 10:20 PM

My car is an S5, and the LIM had the actuator rods SEIZED in it, so the 6Port crap was useless now. I ended up removing all emissions, 6pt, VDI actuator (safety wired open, lol) cat, airpump, and some other stuff as well.

Ironically I did NOT do the TB mod, messed up one TB doing that already.

This is an S5?... Why was I under the impression this was an S4? I'm so confused now.
