Portland ORPCA event on 5/10/2009

Lots of fast drivers at this event.

Kudos to josh18_2k for 7th fastest time at 39.259.

Josh fell from 3rd at the last event.

I didn't manage a top 10 at this one, coming in 17th with a 41.088.

Is is just me, or were there more fast drivers at this event than the last one?

Here's a link to some PCA videos from the event: http://www.oregonpca.org/events/auto...ax2/ax2-media/

Here a couple videos I took with the new GoPro Here Wide Angle camera:

First run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJzaBMjIWBI

Fastest run: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9Qpy51Cvfg

Looks like I needs to shift to 1st in 1 or maybe 2 places to get out of the two tightest corners. Should have tried it and didn't.

At the last event using 1st cut nearly 1 second off my time in a tight corner.

I would prefer a new LSD with a 4.77 gear set, but shifting to 1st is quite a bit cheaper. :)

The field was stacked with much faster drivers and cars then last month. I went from a top-half of the field finish to nearly the bottom. I'm not very happy with my driving as I hit my best time on the 3rd run and then couldn't improve at all. I had a 45.343 followed by a 45.344. It was like bracket racing but at an autocross!

On another note, I think the time has come to seriously pursue a suspension for my car. I'm 90% sure the right rear shock is dead and the slop in the Watt's link was causing some *VIOLENT* snap-oversteer.

Pic of shame:

^ hadn't seen that pic yet

Looks like the new sway bar is working well, it definitely felt better than the ST.

Now to fix the back suspension - getting a pretty serious sounding clunk at times.
Don't think it's pillow balls, but I could be wrong.

Michael, that looks like an expensive cone, what with all the tire smoke and all. :)

Naw, the joys of running STS include really cheap tires like my Azenis that take a long time to wear out ;) They were fine. It's my ego that hurts :(

If you head to the ORPCA site and look up the AX2 results page, there's a link for media, and the last link on that page is the photographer's photobucket. He has a lot of shots of your car, and they're free to right click/save as. ;)

I didn't get the braking right on that tight loop near the parking area until the last couple runs.
