Listen to Jeff20b, he is one of the guys that pioneered all of this stuff. You don't need to gut an ignitor, better ways of doing this have been found over the years.
He is talking about a picture that he posted when he first started working on this stuff, and used old ignitors to make the connections. Now, everybody does exactly what he has advised you to do. Simpler, cleaner, better.
