What events are you trying to run? If you're new to auto-x, I suggest jumping in with NASA Mid-Atlantic's Championship Auto-x. I ran it all last year and have found it a much better venue then some of the CDC or even SCCA events, plus you get a good amount of seat time which is the most important. On top of that, you can just enter as the Novice class and not worry about classing your car at all.. you'll still get the required events for Mazda Comp and as you learn more about the sport, you'll quickly pick up where your car falls in the classing.
IMHO (I'm not trying to start a flame war) but I find NASA a bit easier to class cars then SCCA... both seem to put me in a class I don't belong though, lol. I run NXD with the RX8 and I'm running against modded Supras (MKIII), E30/E36 M3s and the like. All have gobs more power than me... but truth be told, I'm only a few spots behind them... suspension mods will get me there!!!
Long story short... come race with me I get bored with the lack of rotary guys at most of the events.... next one is May 9th in Petersburg....

There's an event here at Tech in June I think. Planning on running that.
