Don't count on it being the AFM, I have a hunch that it is more than that.
Although the '86 that I currently have (after I had to part with the '87) was "Blown" and all that was wrong was a vacuum line (as I could tell from the fact that it would start and then immediately quit). I paid $400 for it, put the vacuum line back on the brake booster and drove it away. Sometimes it does work out that way.
