Perhaps I'm just odd, but it's the gauge I check the least. I know what gear I'm in because I'm the one shifting and I know round-about what my speed is, so I more or less know what my RPMs are based upon those two things so I have no real reason to look at it. Couple that with the sound of the engine/exhaust and there's not a huge need to look at the tach.

That said, I have no sensory input (e.g. sound, sight) of fuel/oil pressure, coolant temp, etc. without a gauge.
