 There's an optional LED light you can put in the cockpit that wires in to the controller to warn of a pump failure.  The LCD controller has a built in audible indicator if a failure is present.  
What's the fail safe for a failing stock pump?  We've had many fail and our only indication is the temp needle moving up.
