I had an '87 supra. The BIGGEST difference between the 7M-GE and 7M-GTE was the turbo. Toyota engine codes (from the 80s and early 90s) typically had a T in them fo turbo, Z for super chargers and nothing for NA (2JZ-GTE vs 2JZ-GE, 4A-GE vs 4A-GZE (older mr2s))
as for '87 supras, rear spoilers were standard, with the 3rd breaklight being retangle ('88 the light was a trapezoid and more "molded" into the spoiler). A "turbo" badge was on the right side of the license plate hold in the rear. both turbo and non-turbo models were available in hard top or targa top, as well as auto vs manual. the gauge clusters were different, turbo had a boost on the far right, na has voltage. And I believe that TEMS (adjustable suspension) was an option on both models, though it is very common to find on the turbo cars
as for engine differences, turbo had..turbo, coil packs, internal oil squirters under teh pistons, different cams, and 8.4:1 compression pistons. NAs had over 10:1 compression (not sure exacct number...didn't own one) the blocks of the na and turbo 7Ms are virtually the same with the differences being in accessories. But neither of them came from the factory with any forged internals. I believe toyota started to do that in the '90s.
just some info for everyone =] best of luck with the sell.
