Grand total of 1176 were produced.

This is incorrect, and was cited incorrectly most recently by Karl Ludvigsen in S&EC Magazine a few months ago. There were 343 Series I Production cars built from early 1967 through mid-1968. 1176 Series II Production cars were built from mid-1968 until production ended in late 1972. What is uncertain is whether there were 50 or 60 pre-production cars (both figures are cited by different sources), and whether those pre-production cars were in fact figured into the Series I Production numbers. The earliest VIN known for certain to exist intact is Glenn Robert's #74 (10074). If the "pre-production" press cars were figured into the production numbers, then theoretically, Glenn may actually have car number 24 or even car number 14 of Series production. Some cars that appear to be Series II cars from some pictures are in fact late Series I cars that were fitted with Series II front ends to alleviate cooling issues, and may have even been fitted with the 15" wheels versus the "proper" 14" wheels. Obvious giveaway would be the wheelbase.
