You're gonna have to be more patient than that if you want to work on an old neglected rx7 bro. If you can't get this N/A running your going to have an even harder time with a Turbo, especially doing a conversion. But let's not dwell on what you shouldn't do, let's talk about what you SHOULD do. A couple of very helpful things would be:
1: Read the FSM troubleshooting section, chances are very good MAZDA knows what's causing your problem.
http://foxed.ca/foxed/index.php?page=rx7manual ** I may be thinking of Haynes... it's been a while since I've had to hunt through the manuals because my car kept stalling.. either way you should be able to find some insightful info.
2: Post good quality pictures of the engine bay from various angle and we'll see if anyone can spot anything obvious that a newb might not know about.
personally, I still think your problem is related to the AFM or a vac leak but then, I'm not there... you may want to pull your injectors and send them off to KG parts for cleaning... it could be that your flooding but, I haven't seen any mention of trouble getting it started, just trouble keeping it running.
Another thought... You may want to make yourself a test light and see if you're getting any trouble codes from the ECU. That could certainly help you narrow down any problems.

*Also, I notice you have put on your new coolant cap assembly. Does it have a pressure cap with a tube going to the overflow reservoir? I believe '88 models had the pressure cap on the filler neck there.
