Yep, that's pretty much what I had used, except it was a S5. I was using an RPM switch to toggle the solenoid for me, I had boost fairly early so I was opening up quickly. The best thing to do is adjust it about 300 rpm or so and see where the 'sweet' spot is for your boost, if you open too early you can lag it a bit, and if you open late you can kind of choke it off. And since it's not like the air pump or anything else, even while cruising/pulling in the higher RPM band there wont be pressure to open so it'll give you slightly better cruise and accel from a roll.
