The same reason why you're doing it in the first place...

How much miles on the engine?
Engine mileage over 100k miles with the older 3-piece seals can have very thin "top" apex seal pieces - hard to explain unless you see the apex seal itself.
A "chunk" of carbon can cause this top, thin piece to crack.

This is why I'd rather prefer ATF, which actually dissolves the carbon over shoving water into the engine.

I doubt the water affected the spark plugs unless you used enough water to hydrolock the engine.
