				FD3S Knock Sensor

Hi Guys, Just need some opinion from you guys regarding my knock sensor... Normally, I'll read maximum knock value less 24-27 and hardly hit 30 thru Power FC commander. However, I've been seeing higher value of 47 to 55 lately. Upon investigation, the rubber insulator that suppose covering the sensor outer surface was found melted letting the sensor naked. Could this condition makes the sensor picking up false knock value ? any of u guys had experienced the same matter? However I'll try to put sillicone rubber sealant and see how it could improve the knock readings. Amer |

Since a knock sensor is basically a microphone any deadening material removal will result in higher false positives.

I'm with vex. I had a similar issue with a knock sensor on my Outback. The rubber was in bad shape, and the ECU was getting high knock readings. Swapped in a new one and everything went back to normal.

Thanks for the reply guys.. Just had the sensor filled in with high temp silicone rubber glue. Will wait till the rubber dries and see how it goes.... |
