Wiper switch rebuilds
Okay, so I know Icemark from the other forum offers rebuilds for miscellaneous electrics for 2nd gens for price. I've had no problems with him and I don't intend to start a flame thread here but I'm wondering of the alternatives for a wiper switch rebuild- is there anybody here that does rebuilds or know of any competent, respectable shops that handle it?
I know I can rebuild my own switch but really can't be bothered to take out the relays and hope somebody can just help out. Also, I know that this a fairly common problem on the FCs and it would be a good thing to find another vendor for this service. Just for the record, I have a S5 wiper switch w/ rear wiper that died on me some months back. |

1990 GTX offered me rebuilt switches. I'm sure the offer extends to you all too.

Phoenix7, think we could get him to chime in here?
It's those relays inside the switches that go. My car has some grounding issues that I intend to fix and I suspect that it contributed to the frying of the wiper switch internals. Icemark apparently rebuilds them with better relays; I'm just hoping we can get reliable relays that can beat the stock ones. Last edited by firzen; 09-15-2008 at 08:07 PM. |

I think Icemark used to redo the internal relays, but if I'm not mistaken, I believe he said the company that was selling the upgrades internal relays no longer does. However, you can put on an external relay pretty easily.

I need this done along with my clock.. because I'm tired of trying to fix my clock only to have it work for a few days.

If I had more spare time and a little money and a hiar more experience then you'd get one.. I'd like to get into fibre glassing some more.

It appears the relays are still up on Icemark's site so I'm not sure where I got that. Maybe I'm losing it...

I believe the s5 has the new relay, the s4's have the old problem relay. Doesn't mean your relay didn't go bad. If you wanna save money, order the relay through Icemark and rebuild it yourself if you can solder. If not spend the $75 for one of his.
