Pineapple Racing Graphite Mani Gasket?
I was just browsing through their site and found this.
http://www.pineappleracing.com/index...PROD&ProdID=78 Has anyone used them before? How do they compare to the OEM gasket? At half the price, and being from Pineapple I think it would be worth trying.

I heard about someone using it once before and had to re-torque it a few times and also noted a funny smell for the first few hundred km's that was presumably the gasket heat cycling.
Personally, I've never seen a stock one fail, and have re-used 10 year old ones and never had a problem. Thats one factory piece that doesn't need re-engineering. Only reason to buy a different type is money, and at that point the product may not work as well. |

Yeah, the reason I am asking is because the stock one failed and I can't afford a stock one at the moment. I have read alot about how the stock gasket is reuseable and should outlast the life of the turbo, but I think that one of the previous owners must have taken off the turbo and reinstalled the gasket incorrectly (causing damage).
I think that I am going to try the graphite one, and if it fails it fails. I doubt that Pineapple would sell an inferior part. At least we will get some good information regarding the durability of this part. thanks for the info Classic.

I don't think graphite gaskets are re-useable normally.
None of the ones I have ever used on various projects have been anyway. |
