FS: Half-a-seven trailer project

FS - rear half of S5 RX-7 set up as a trailer. Tows well, but needs front closed in. Would prefer to sell to someone interested in finishing it rather than parting it out.

Rear shell, taillights, rear glass, rear shocks/springs/trailing arms, rear wheel bearings, 5-lug hubs and wheels, still has fuel tank and pump, as well as custom tow setup connected to subframe and chassis. Have couplers for 2" and 1 7/8" ball.

located in Charleston, SC. Would like to see $100, considering just the value of the taillights.

How is the axle setup? Meaning do you still have the 1/2 shafts and diff installed?

No, of course not. That would add 100 pounds of useless hardware to a trailer.

I used the outer stub axles from several otherwise unusable half-shafts. So there is an axle stub, then the bearing, then the hub, with nut etc.

I've towed this over 400 miles behind my Jeep with nary a wobble.

//and over to you...

Are you looking for a pat on the back or a cookie 'cuz you did it properly? Most wouldn't, which is why I asked. It would've been easier if you had mentioned that previously when I asked about the shafts/diff

That would be perfect to use for autocross tow along trailer... Put two cut pieces of pipe so it can hold a patio umbrella to keep the driver in the shade... Lol

Then when your speeding to the event, keep that FC3S plate on, go by a photo radar and no one would be the wiser... Just shorten up the extension on the hitch and make it look like one really long RX-7....

I did it because I've been to many car shows where the back half of the car being shown is made into a trailer. Here, I additionally wanted to keep the fuel tank to be able to go longer distances. I just don't have time to finish the project, nor will I in the likely future. If you aren't interested, please keep your comments to yourself - I'm trying to sell what I have, no solicit opinions on the project. It would make a decent tire trailer, camping trailer, what have you, to be towed behind another FC. As such, weight is important. I didn't make this thing to be a utility trailer like the pickup-truck-bed deals you see out there.

Somehow you're taking this personally. Please don't. Just because I didn't finish the project for a reason (time) doesn't mean I didn't do what I have completed improperly. And if you think about it, it would be silly to keep the differential and shafts there; they weigh almost as much as the shell that's left. But walking the hubs out of the bearings wouldn't be the smart thing to do either.

If you're interested, make me an offer. Otherwise, please go away. The original post contains a list of what parts are on the trailer project.

This is condecending and unneccesary. This puts a bitter tone to every other reply that you've made. No, Of course not... usless.. think about what you're typing and re-read it before you click reply

without what was in front of it I would've made you and this thread go away. This is not 7club. We pride outselves here on the community of our members. We're a very tight nit group as far as forums go and we aim to keep it this way. Most members who post regularily know me and others on a first name basis and most even have my personal cell phone number..... becuase we know each other this way we as admins tend to let some crap fly becuase we know that we're just busting balls and having a good time........ but you don't fit into this category, so please, in the future, tread a little lighter and think about how the person reading your reply could interpret it, if it COULD come across sounding defensive, beligerant, condecending; as most of your posts have.... change it.

Perhaps I've come across as a little testy. If so, I apologize - I've been dealing with RX7 and RX8 club fora where the idiocy is unrestrained. No one can tell tone from an email (or forum post), emoticons or not. Please do not ascribe any sort of intent or emotive meaning to my words - they are just words. In an ordinary conversation I have no doubt 'of course' would have been met with head nodding rather than derision.

If you will remember why this list was started, it was because a well known member of the rotary community (Kevin) P'Od the corporates who bought the other fora. I know Kevin personally, and although I consider him a top-notch guy and a friend he can be abrasive sometimes when he feels like he's being belittled or otherwise having to put up with someone's BS. He found acceptance here. I would hope you would have the same attitude towards others. We all likely have some rough edges somewhere.

In addition, please don't ostracize me because you yourself do not know me. I have been online and active in the rotary world since the days of rx7.world.std.com email list goodness... and an original member of TeamFC3S. I'd bet most 2nd genners that have been around for a while know me personally as well, and I continue to get calls from California to Florida to Japan from people wanting my technical advice. Do I post regularly? No, I've not got the time any more. Like most guys from the early days I've got a career and a family and other hobbies, all of which clamor for my ever-dwindling time. My point is there is no need to get all defensive and insular of your community here, I have probably been a part of it for longer than you realize. Long enough that when I think back to my first rotary, I feel old. As in many forum members probably weren't born yet, or were very young.

I assure you I am not some punk kid with a $500 wreck and 3 wrenches that is trying to emulate F&F. I've built enough motors, transmission, hell entire ITS cars that the people *I* looked up to when I knew nothing, like BDC, Dale, Foosh, Meadors and the rest of the FC3S crew accepted me as an equal. I would appreciate being treated as such here, or at least with common courtesy. Lastly, if I'm being hazed because I've got few posts, please remember post count =! wisdom.

I thinkn we're in agreement here with everything especially not being able to tell a tone from a post. It did seem a little abrasive as I'm sure I've come off at times, espeically lately. And believe me, I know post count don't equal shit.... even though I am the top poster here apparently, so maybe some merit?

Don't mind TTT. He's just grumpy because he didn't think of making an FC trailer first.

Good luck!
