Just a fuel related idea!

Any one thought of using a car audio capacitor to regulate voltage to the fuel pump. I noticed on my car I can here the pitch of the electric pump change if I turn on the turn signals. This a good idea or a bad idea? Im good with electronics but never took the time to study electric theory. Thanks

That's funny, my car does the same thing (Carter fuel pump). I even ran separate power lines and grounds, and it still does it. Not sure if it really matters though, as it doesn't appear to affect the performance of the car. Interesting idea nonetheless...

the fuel pump puts out a whole lot more fuel then is actually making it to your rail (fuel pressure regulator). i guess it depends on your pump, but with a properly sized one it should still flow enough at 12v for WOT, and theres no way its dipping that low.
my e-fan kicking on makes the biggest impact on voltage, but everything has been fine so far.

I've noticed my Carter buzzing along with the signals and dropping in tone slightly with the headlights, but considering my stereo is usually blasting at max volume I doubt the fuel pump is going to see a worse drop in power than that. I'm willing to bet the stock pump did the same straight from the factory, but it's so small and quiet and sandwiched between the body and underplate that it would be hard to notice. The Carter is just loud so we can easily hear when it changes in pitch.

I upgraded the alternator on mine and that made the Carter stop surging when the turn signals come on. I hated to put a domestic one in there (GM CS130), but 140 amps is nothing to sneeze at.
