Post December 2008 Ride of the Month - FC Zach (Winner of Open Month)!

December was an experiment, so we did "Open Month" and let everything in. The winners by a HUGE margin was jfaplanet's REPU and FC Zach's Suzuki RE5 motorcycle (that would be a factory ROTARY powered motorcycle for those of you who don't know). I haven't gotten a hold of jfa yet (he seems to not be an RCC member...) but FC Zach gladly answered my questions on his ROTM!

Questions to the owner:

Q: Congratulations for winning Ride of the Month! Tell us about how you acquired this bike?
A: I first saw it sitting in the showroom at at local motorcycle dealership where it was on display. Upon first glance when I looked at it I thought "Hey,, look at the really clean 750. Then I looked closer at the badging and the engine and noticed something different. Then realized what it was. After seeing it I had to have it. It wasn't for sale but I contacted the owner, chatted with him about whether or not he would sell it, then later purchased it and proudly owned it for about a year now.

Q: How did you first become interested in modified cars? Have you had any previously?
A: I have been fascinated in anything mechanical since I could walk. My first car in High School would probably be the first time I became interested in modding cars. Although embarrassed to say it was a 6th gen Celica ST, its a good car and still running to this day.

Q: Whats the biggest reason you chose a rotary powered car (bike) to modify?
A: I've been fascinated with the rotary engine since the first time I had been introduced to one, which was when a friends older brother owned one when I was in middle school.

Q: Is this car your daily driver? Do you participate in any form of racing? (Drag, Auto-X, etc)
A: I drive my 7 as if its a daily but mostly the Celica (since it's the most the economical choice). The RE5 on the other hand is a pain in the ass, with spark plugs costing as little as $35 a piece I try to keep it off the road. That and I wan to keep the miles and wear off it.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your car (bike)?
A: I enjoy the fact that my carbureted w/ everything you need and nothing you don't. It's a sportman's car and will still keep up with cars that are thought of as "better or faster". Its definitely underestimated.

Q: Do you have any future plans for the bike, or any car?
A: I plan on building my P Port carbureted 13B here in the near future.

Q: Any other hobbies besides cars?
A: Anything that has to do w/ guns, motorcycles, or anything mechanical.

Q: Anyone you'd like to thank?
A: My parents for supporting my hobbies.

Additional Pictures?
(If anybody has some pictures please post them. This was the bike at DGRR and SevenStock).
