Kevin, I don't take anything you say personally

But you are right... the car show wasn't organized properly and its going to change. I did try to get people in advance to get the show going but when you can't get all the cars parked by 10AM, its impossible to do it in 1+ hours.

Hope next year, we'll have it bit longer at the NVNC and be more planned and get the judges votes and someone else tally things up.

And just so you guys know, I know some of you like to be bit more critical, most of what you are mentioning are noted before you mention it... ie, some of the cars that won last year have somehow not qualified for the show this year.. I don't know why but that will change... Including my car will be up for the show I noticed this when the winners are called out.

I like Kevin's suggestion. Maybe the thing to do is to prejudge everyone @ the villiage, give a list of 7ish cars in each class to a volunteer @ the damn for the photoshoot to group the pre-selected cars together for easier judging?

I couldn't agree more with Kevin either. And this is not meant to poke at any one person in general, but I felt the car show this year was definitely sub-par, even compared to years past. They didn't even have the car number of one of the FB winners???

I'd be more than willing to help organize this, I've held shows for Mazda before and have had good success.

I think the biggest complaint I heard (and my own personal one) was the voting for people's choice... I think Ernie's car is a great vehicle, but on Saturday I asked around if anybody knew how we were supposed to vote for it and not one person knew so I'm just curious how/where the voting took place for that category?

Oh.. and hands down on rotarybeat... I thought his FC was a shoe-in (especially since Brian didn't make it )

Phil,

As a 1st year attendee and unable to compare with prior years, I will agree that the car show portion could have been a little more organized. I do though tip my hat to you and those that volunteered to take on the task of organizing this event from many miles away and the logistics that it encompassed. I learned long ago that the biggest reward from these events are meeting great people, seeing great cars, and sharing your love for the hobby. Looking forward to the possible fall meet and next years rally.

Steve

Make the show a more important and organized part of the event, rather than just "every man for himself" like it seems to be now.

Phil, I do not mean for you to do all this yourself. There are plenty of people willing to help that you can delegate these roles to.
Kevin, All have been thought of... I actually took one step back and realized what the issue is and already talked to NVNC owners about this issue.. which is lack of parking and lack of place to get great photos.

I'm not just thinking of car show issue but also why we had to drive to Fontana second day. So, I'm working on it to fix all this, which will fix not only the car show issue but other issues as well. This year was bit different as I wanted a magazine worth group shot like 2007 shot at the Dam. But that also didn't work out as TVA didn't let me use the 1st parking lot.

Either case, I do appreciate the input, but I'm really thinking how I could make the event better for everyone... including parking, car show, better photos, etc... Only thing I haven't thought of at this point is the stupid food issue and award ceremony. Also, how I'm going to get Blount Co. to help us out

And Yes, I'll be honest with you... the big problem to car show was that we didn't get the judges to start voting until close to the end. Its not the judges fault, but really the time and us (I guess me?) But again, all this because we had from 9-12 and most of that time people are still checking in and parking.

Regarding 1st gen... as I feel like this thread just took a dump from congratulating people who won to lets complain about the show... The 1st gen guy who won, registered at the event and we didn't have his name on the master list. Also the guy who tallied up the car show results was sleeping during award ceremony so he could help me drive back to Bham... Again, its all my fault and I admit it was bit crazy... and not on my priority of things

I think the winning cars are gorgeous. That silver FD has probably the cleanest fender rolls I've seen. Also, the deuce was in great shape. I'm sure finding parts for those is less than exciting.

One more suggestion though, on a positive note. Perhaps we could split Old School/Other into separate categories. That would give swaps and things like the RE-5/Hercules/Van Veen their own category. On a related note, +1 to the gorgeous bikes.
