I just got an 05 RX-8 and I love it. A few problems, though. Before I say what's wrong I will say the car was in an accident before I purchased it. There is a crack on the dashboard where the front passenger airbag is. I don't really find it too much of a problem. But the thing is the check airbag light keeps coming on then back off. Also the low tire gauge continues to come on. I'm sure it's because it's stupid cold where I reside right now so the pressure is a little lower. Then sometimes when I put the car in reverse there's a sort of a winding noise. Is that because I don't quite have it in reverse? WHAT'S GOING ON??

Check the airbags to see that they are actually there..they are expensive and often not replaced
TPMS are a PIA...check the pressure ![]() The noise in reverse is normal gear whine likely.....straight cut gears do that ![]() |

All of the above.
I have found Mazda TPMS sensors to be very touchy. The cracked airbag cover is also normal. They suck. But the light is a different issue.

I would assume your aibags are in the car since it comes and goes. when I put my sparco seat in my 8 (removing the airbags in the seat) the ight came on and stayed on.

It was common on 04 and 05s for the airbag light to come on and off sometimes.. its usually the passenger seat connection. I would check both seat connections.
Gear wind is normal. TPMS is sensitive... thats it really. |
