				welding on a holley

Im trying to figure out if i can do some welding on my holley. I did some searching and i believe the main body to be aluminum. But the goldish color is asome sort of coating. so if i sand away the coating, it should be no problem to do some TIG to the carb... what im doing is converting the carb into a 4 barrel throttle body. basically removing everything from the carb body until its tore down to nothing. weld up all the holes where the metering plates are and weld close holes where vacuum leaks can occur. few things im not sure of though. -how would i go about adding a TPS? -what else to weld close on the TB besides the fuel holes where the metering plates and fuel bowls covered up? -any tips for someone who has done this before?

Never done it before, but seems like you'd just close up anything that isn't related to the throttle linkage, keeping brake booster and PCV vacuum sources if desired. You don't necessarily need a TPS if you use a MegaSquirt. You can tune with MAPdot instead.

well, im going to be using a Microtech... so i need a TPS. I seen it done once before. but never asked how he did the TPS or where he got it fom. kicking myself now... and im just going to weld up every hole on the side of the carb body. but before i go trying to weld it and having my tungsten melting back and possibly hurting my TIG torch. i want to know if the carb body is aluminum for sure... anyone know what the main body is made out of for sure, and what kind of coating does it have on it?

not that simple... aluminum is not magnetic. i think this is what you are refering to. but there are many steels and other metals that are non magnetic, such as stainless steel.
