Follow up: Pineapple Racing gaskets
A while ago i bought a set of turbo gaskets from Pineapple Racing, one for the block to manifold and one for the manifold to turbo. Being made out of graphite made me weary, but the price was right. When i got them i was impressed with the quality. I just put them in the other day and so far I am pleased. I will post up on them again in a few hundred miles and tell how they hold up.

Did they smell funny when you initially started the engine?
Many have complained about the funny smell lingering for days. -Ted |

haha.... I know EXACTLY of what smell you are talking about!
Once, in shop class, this dumbass kid tried to weld a magnet... being made of graphite, that didnt turn out too well! The shop stank for a week afterwards, and I can still recall the nauseating smell of torch melted graphite!

Were these the same ones that were prone to failure previously? I remember readings about some graphite gasket failing more often than normally suitable.

I don't know about the past of these gaskets, but they are working well for me. they have held up well so far and I haven't had to retorque them.

In all liklihood they're probably not the same ones I was thinking of. Unfortunatly I can't remember which ones I read about so I automatically corrolate graphite gaskets to being failure prone, which is probably horrendiously false.
