September 2009 Car Of The Month - TitaniumTT's FC3S Turbo

Questions to the owner:

Q: Congratulations for winning Ride of the Month! Tell us about how you acquired this car?

A: By pure accident. I was 18 and the trans in my DD Cherokee puked in the spring. I needed a car to drive while I repaired the Jeep. Thoughts were to buy a sports car cheap that needed some minor repairs, fix her up, enjoy for the summer, sell in the spring and never look back..... that was in 1997

Q: Favorite stretch of road to drive your car on (location)?

A: That would have to be Deals Gap. I plan on driving x-country at some point and I can't imagine a road beating The Tail of the Dragon

Q: Whats the biggest reason you chose a rotary powered car to modify?

A: I was intrigued with the rotary after the purchase and the handling on a bone stock FC was better than my fathers Porsche. Seemed like a great car to start with alot of potential

Q: What are the future plans on this car?

A: A very dear friend of mine and I are in the planning stages of opening up our own shop, this car will be the test mule for a bunch of products we would like to offer as well as a show/street/track car, basically a rolling advertisment Over the winter she's coming down to a bare shell to repair a little undercarriage cancer and herculiner, sound deadening in the interior, re-wire a few things, 6-spd trans, BBK's at both ends, underbelly pan and eventually a custom interior

Q: What was the worst and best memory of this project?

A: Tough call but it would have to be one of the 3 engines that let loose, none of which by my own foot, tuning or building. Best memory would have to be talking to all the fellow Rotorheads at DGRR about the project, the trophy was an awesome touch and I'm looking foward to going back in about 6 months.

Q: Any other hobbies besides cars?

A: Do women count?

Q: Anyone you'd like to thank?

A: My very dear friend and hopeful future business partner Alex for hanging in for a few of my many allnighters, Dave @ KDR, Simon @ MoTeC and as cheesy as it sounds, the rotary community as a whole for without a bunch of deals on parts, help when I needed it, she wouldn't be where she is.

Q: Anything in the pipeline for another ROTM win?

A: Actually..... We are doing a complete ground up rotisserie resto on Alex's S4 TII and she's also getting an LS1 swap, repaint and a ton of custom parts that we plan to offer, and I'm looking for an FD roller because I have a few things I'd like to try in that chassis as well as some product development as well.
