BackFiring
Hi Guys. My 92 FD seems to be backfiring a lot. Sometimes it will even stall when I'm idling and when i try to step on the gas it doesn't seem to floor right away. I just got it compression tested about 2 weeks ago and it went well.

know this section goes up to 1992 but if it's an fd you need to be in the third gen section

Could be that the timing is off and that is causing your backfires. What is your exhaust?
Also I am confused on the year specific you have. 92 year model was FC, and FD didn't start til 93. So let me ask you this. What motor do you have? NA? Turbo? Twin Turbo?

If this is a FD, check that the MAP sensor vaccum hose is connected. The MAP sensor is located on the firewall, near the Throttlebody. ( If a JDM car it would be on the passenger side of the firewall.
![]() Also, I the air pump still on the vehicle? Timing is hard to mess up with the FD as the pullies are fixed in one direction and the CAS sensors are fixed as well. My guess is a vaccum line has come loose someplace. MAP is most common. Inspect the Voltage for the TPS as well in all ranges. If you have a PFC and commander, you can check it thru the sensor check screen. Dave |
