I don't have my wiring diagram handy but is the neutral switch also connected to the ignition switch (i.e. can't start car w/o clutch depressed)?

The neutral switch isn't the same as the clutch switch, cause you can start the car in gear as long as the clutch is depressed. The neutral switch is in the transmission, and the clutch switch is under the dash i believe.
