Me too, I borrowed a Cannon Digital Rebel Xt from work, but I really want one of the Nikons with the built-in stabilizer for myself.... someday

i have one w/ a built in stabilizer...

it's OK. definitely helps, but it takes away from the image clarity i think. i've noticed that lens w/ the built in stabilizer tend to be very slightly less "crisp" on hard edges. just my experience.

you just need a fast lens, lets say with a aperture of 2.8/f both cannon and nikon offer their own steady shot lens today.

Do you prefer the Nikon or Cannon? I've been leaning towards the D80 because of the built-n stabilizer, making extra lenses cheaper rather than buying lenses with stabilizer built in. Is the whole stabilizer thing not worth it? I don't really know much about cameras, I just want to pick a good one and add lenses as needed to play with I'm still very amateur and trying to learn tips from the internet and magazines as I go.

all the photos from DGRR were shot with a nikon D80( which is no longer in production). The camera it self offers no built in stabilizers functions, the lens do.
As mentioned both Cannon and Nikon are great cameras. If you plan on shooting still/static objects any of the DX dslr will do. The pictures will always have a better look when you spend the money on the lenses.

If you plan on shooting motions shots make sure you get a camera frame that shoots the highest number of frames per second matched with a fast lens.

Phil was kind enough to lend me his Nikon D90 for the event, what a great camera and once again depending on your subject matter any camera will do.

No, actually I started the standard "Mazdatrix" air dam and redesigned the light holes from square to round.
