another problem..
so i got my ignition coil problem solved and now im not getting enough fuel to the carberator when i origionally turn the key it shoots out but after that it just dribbles and wont stay started. this weekend i plan on doin a pressure test on it but ive been reading up about a relay under the dash that sounds as though it may cause problems of this nature. anyone had this experience or have a possible solution? im on my 3rd fuel pump now because my other 2 burned up. but ive also dropped the gas tank and got alot out of it before ive gotten to this point.

getting a constant 3.5 psi off the fuel pump leads me to believe there may be some kind of kink/blockage in the line possibly. either thursday or friday ill be dropping the gas tank again to check for kinks if theres nothing there ill have to drop the metal lines and check for corrosion in those.

did the car sit for a long time?
also did the tank ever get "refurbished" where they run the sealer on the inside?

guy told me it didnt but from what i got out of it the first time ive dropped it said otherwise. i actually had the tank cut open and used that commercial grade aircraft stripper on the inside on the tank and gotta lotta bs out. but never used the sealant on the inside seemed like a risky move.

could just be a faulty accelerator pump.

but i did have a tank with a clogged feed line once. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out. Another FB that sat for, geez, years, had blockages in the fuel lines under car as well.

actually inspected them look like fairly new lines.. but its a big line it seems for the amount of pressure that systems under :/ im debating on just replacing that line with something smaller cause i feel its almost to big. called mazda again.... and they sent me off to their customer experience line guy gave me part numbers but i cant find what the size of that line is supposed to be :/ probally replace it just to cross that possibility off the list. but the accelerator pump wouldnt allow the car to rev if that where the case right? as long as i keep my foot on the gas pedal it will stay cranked.

why don't you put a fuel pressure gauge in line right before it goes into the carb and see what pressure you have at the carb instead of directly off the fuel pump?
what fuel pump are you using ? I have a Weber DCOE carb on my SA and I use a Carter fuel pump and a Holley FPR set @ 3.5 psi.with stock fuel lines and an after market in line fuel filter from Napa. The carter pump gives you good flow @ the 3.5 psi. I have had this setup on my SA for 8-10 years and it runs very well.

thats actually where i tested it was at the carb and the tester i was using said i had a solid 3.5psi.... and i actually got my fuel pump from napa and the stock one went out on me so they gave me sum aftermarket one they said everyone was using so i actually replaced those lines today and now im getting no fuel at all in the lines.... think ill be dropping the tank again tomorrow unless anyone has other ideas by then >_<

alright so i took a 1 gal fuel can and removed the rubber line running to the tank and off the pump and ran it into the can. had more fuel than it knew what to do with so looks like im going to have something stopping it up in the tank...

only thing i found wrong was my gasket i got from rubber specialities was starting to break down and a pin size hole in the tank so gotta get sum new gasket materal and get that patched up hopefully only problem cause im sure air getting in the line can be a culprit of my situation. when i get all fixed ill keep updated.
