Well I officially got a job in Murfreesboro so I'll be somewhat moving in a couple weeks. It's only part-time so I'll be working there and Knoxville until I get a full-time job in the Nashville area. It'll be nice to have a good local rotary group to hang out with, as opposed to the dumbass Knoxville guys (ugh, don't get me started...). My only current problem is that I'll have nowhere to work on the 7 besides my parent's (near Knoxville). Hopefully I'll find somewhere to store/work on the car.

Anyways, add another 7 to the local group (soon enough).

I meet with the HR guy tomorrow and they have to do a background check (usually about a week) so I'm not sure when I'm starting. Probably the week of the 6th.

Moving is a tricky situation. One of my friends rents out 3 rooms at his house. Currently they're all full, but one is opening in August and possibly another around that time. He's currently checking if another guy still wants to move there (he asked a while ago), and if he doesn't I'm in. Until then I'm crashing at his house and waiting to see what happens. I'm hoping that will work out since it's super cheap and I hate dealing with leases...

Awesome man, we could set up a meet at one of the car shows here in the Boro when you get here and settled. We haven't done anything here in a while.

Sounds good. Hopefully the 7 will make it to Nashville without imploding. I haven't drove it more than 2 miles in about 6 months...

Pretty sure the 8 just popped...

Well, we'll see how long it takes Mazda to replace the reni...

In a way I wish it wasn't under warranty. Then I could justify an RE block swap or something....

Just coming back from lunch, nothing special.
you know that feeling... where it feels like the power is all the sudden cut in half and it just limps along. So I'm pretty sure it's toast. I should hear back from Mazda today.

In brighter news, I have exhaust coming for it.

UPDATE:
It's not blown...
The coils, plug wires, plugs, and downstream O2 sensor are all fried.
Ended up costing me more than just having the engine replaced...

Exhaust ships today...

Did they give you an estimate, or just fix it?

The reason I ask is that all those items can he had cheap, and the ignition could have been upgraded with a BHR kit.

If they just fixed it without your approval, they are on the hook for the bill.

Got the 7 moving thanks to DJ and Charles. Driving it for the first time in a while was fun. It's pretty sweet when a car literally gives you goose bumps.

Now to finish up a few more things, find somewhere to put it in Nashville/Murfreesboro, and hope it makes the trip...

coils etc are under warranty.
most of the expense is from the plugs (50~60 each)
and the $200 service fee...

I'll have it back this afternoon.
I'm going to start saving for an RE block and rebuild.
I don't think I'll be keeping the reni forever. I may trade it in if the new RX7 comes out... ever...

A friend of mine (Jess) in Manchester forwarded me the e-mail below and called me today to let me know how my RE5 was going. He also says once the new warehouse is open he would like to host some type of rotary get together. I'll keep you guys updated on this, it'll be a few more months. Let me know what you all think.

Friends,

As most of you know, I have had a love of rotary engine (wankel) motorcycles for many years. Over the last ten years, I have restored and repaired them for folks around the world. My friend, Sam Costanzo, the worlds leading expert has decided to retire, and released this statement today.

I will continue to work at my day job and for the last several months have been working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week in preparation for this announcement. I hope to be moved in and open for operation by September 1, 2009 at my 22,000 square foot facility in Tullahoma TN.

I may be difficult to reach for a while, so I ask for your patience and understanding.

Best regards,
Jess Stockwell

From Sam Costanzo To The Rotary Community:

There comes a time in everyone's life when major decisions must be made. I have reached that point in life and have made just such a decision.

I am now reaching close to 70 years of age and have over 45 years
involvement in the Rotary field and also as an attached factory liaison to
the Suzuki RE5 and Sachs W2000 Rotary. At this time, I have decided to
retire and am proud to pass the "Rotary Torch" on to my good, long-time
friend Jess Stockwell, a name well known and well respected within the
Rotary Community.

Jess is a very knowledgeable collector and enthusiast of the RE5, he has
been a contributor to RE5 questions and problems throughout the years and is well versed on these bikes. Jess has acquired all of my NOS RE5 and W2000 Rotary inventory plus all quality refurbished parts, along with my indoor salvage inventory of over 150 RE5 and W2000 motorcycles and 4-1/2 tons of parts, plus the internationally-known " Rotary Recycle USA" trade name. Jess and his staff will continue where I leave off in serving the Rotary Community with parts, service, and technical information from the new Rotary Recycle facility located at 1000 Davidson Street , Tullahoma , Tennessee 37388 .

My staff and I will continue to give Jess all the support necessary
to make this massive transition of parts and bikes as smooth as possible.

Please be patient. Jess will post his new Rotary Recycle contact
information when he's set up and ready to serve the Rotary Community.

In parting, I enjoyed sharing many of my behind-the-scenes Rotary history and information with the Community throughout the years. I have immensely enjoyed the friendships I have made over the course of my journey.

Enthusiasts such as Wayne, Kim, Terry, David, Roland, and many, many others have become near and dear to me.

Look forward to the new opening of Jess Stockwell's Rotary Recycle USA!

Thank you to everyone. "The Rotary torch is now passed!"

Best regards,
Sam Costanzo

You'll watch and like it!

Naaa, I've been talking to Brian Cain in Texas...
When I'm ready to rebuild the reni, he's going to bridge port it.
We talked for a while on reliability etc and he's come to the conclusion that it should be very reliable due to the fact that even with the added overlap of the BP setup, it's still not even close to the overlap of the old stock 13b's.

BRAP BRAP BRAP... here I come... XD

DJ,
Yea, we need to start seriously trying to plan actual events. I'll poke chad again about getting the website access. I'm more than happy to keep it updated and make it more useful for us. If I have to, I'll make us a new domain. I can even integrate automated texts to your phone for event reminders etc. There's not a lot I can't do with a website.

My GF offered to be a sort of secretary for the club, but it's pointless if we're not really committed to anything.

Zach,
I'm cool with Fridays. Any day works for me as long as I know in advance.
