So you are planning on running different seats for racing or all together??

I LIKE the center window switch set up, very cool like a BMW!!
They are better than the stockers, but I was running some corbeaus. Those were nice, but not the greates for scooting around town or long trips. I'll swap the corbeaus in for track days. 8 bolts, 10 minutes, best of both worlds.

It's bolted down, but becuase of the passenger side floor pan, it sits higher than the drivers. All of them do it, I think the stockers are the only ones that sit at about the same level.

When I put the FD seats in the FB I ran into the exact problems as he did. The seats are just not dimensionally close at all. IMO. The bottoms of the seats drop down low which in turn causes the higher seating. For me at 6'2 that doesn't work well in the FB.There is o way I can get my helmet on and fit inside the car. I found that S4 seats are a direct bolt in on the passenger side. The donor car I used did not have drivers side seat rails so I made the FB rails work. I have come to hate installing seats
Yeah it is a PITA. In the Corbeaus I had to slouch a little with the helmet. A problem that I plan on rectifing over the winter. Something about having to slouch while racing doesn't really agree with me.

if you have some shoot me some links because ive been at it for a good 3 hours lol

i would love to try it out, but after reading the theory it had me a bit concerned with how reliable they are

hehe i bet everyone is scratching there heads on what im talking about

Sooo.....Brian. How much do you figure to replicate those RX-8 seat brackets once you have them sorted out?

Seriously!

Yeah she is, if I can keep traction. There's non in 1st or 2nd on low boost, and highboost breaks them loose in 3rd. I dunno if it's the cold roads or what but I can't keep the ass in line when I mat her. I gotta stop driving this car and get to work on her.

I'm sure they are. The only place to find any real information on them is the manufacturers website. It's not under the general listing though, you need to DL or open thier PDF catalog. Everything else I've found is really just internet heresay, nothing really concrete as it applies to gas engines ..... everyone still guessing

Honestly, not that much at all. The only problem is they can't really be bolted in. They really should be welded in mainly becuase of the passenge side inboard front bracket being flush with the floorpan. The passenger outboard front, drivers outboard rear and both drivers front mounts are a piece of cake. It's also the rear inboard bolt on both that cause a huge problem. I don't know if the track can be cut or not and still allow full adjustment rearward. I'll have to figure that out when I start into the car..... which should be today but it won't be My solution is to change the mounting entirely on the rear inboard mounts so that the bolt drives through the rack downward. I'll make installation a TON easier as well regardless of the seat that I use. But that requires a steel box with a nut welded on the inside and welding it to the floorpan. Not something that everyone is up for as the prep would take wuite some time to clean off all the heat material, grind the primer down to bare steel, weldthrough prime everything, weld it, seal it etc etc. It's a cake walk with the car at my shop..... too bad all you guys live so damn far away from CT, well, alot of you.

I could duplicate the mounts that I bulit for mine with the exception of the inboard rears fairly cheaply, but they would need to be welded to the RX8 tracks, or bolted. I prefer welding honestly. Maybe $125 for 6/8 mounts, or if I find that the rear inboard track can be cut and the factory bolt holes used we can figure something out.

yea thats as far as i got, the companies site only formally addresses the item for one car, but it looks like it would only work on that specific car

all other sites speak of it in past tense and dont say how to go about purchasing one or the type of setup they would run

and lol im trying to make this go as long as possible lol its getting hard

Talking Oh noes!!!!! I done it again!

The super secret tranny is assembled, it works, sorta, one problem to solve and one piece to be machined. Then it's off to Daves for some cryo treatment, full rebuild and then it can be put into the car. 6-spd, awesome gearing, and it fits in the stock shifter opening and BOLTS up to the bellhousing.

Brian,

Let me know if I can help you with those brackets. We laser cut and CNC press brake metal everyday here. Thos e brackets could be bolted in if you used a square frame and press brake the ends. We could even powder coat the assembly in house. If you want, let's talk more through PM. We have in-house CAD design as well.

If you're serious, I can price some pieces out for you. I know exactely what needs to be done to make it work, and can get prices for everything with the exception of the machine work. I'll be heading down to the shop in the next few days to get some parts turned down.

Only drawback so far is there is no aftermkt short throw that I can find for it..... I may be making one of those too
