Any windshield sealant will work. RTV will work. I have used soap and water, mineral spirits (which is the recommended cleaner), alcohol, even carb or brake clean to clean them. All worked.
If you have someone that installs windshields for a living, go with his recommendation. With the carb cleaner spray it was first put on a rag then used as a wipe, do not soak. Any good soap and water will work too. On the RX7UP I used some double sided tape. One side worked all right the other not so much. (was some old stuff I had laying around) Probably didn't clean it well enough because I was in a hurry or that part of the roll the sticky had dried up. So I now have an interesting vibration noise. Not too concerned because all the glass wiil be removed from the rear eventually.
