Heat treating the plates with nitrating process will not help with cooling, its the same process the factory uses on new plates, minus the coil induction heating on the center of the plates,

Its the same thermal result you will get with any Mazda new plates.

Thanks

I did tore down a engine for a customer at his place do to a stuck/cracked side seal, at about 42k miles on the build,
Took pics with my phone the condition of the plates, there were only visual signs of the travel of the seals but no measurable step wear on the plates.
I would safely assume that these last close to or the same as new OEM plates...
Will have more back to back info with data etc in the future...

Thanks

I have a full set of S4 Turbo Irons and the problem is that they have burn marks on all but one face (which is on the rear side of the center iron), can you re-nitride and then lap these and make them usable again? Or am I looking at a lost cause?

For sure they can be done.

Do email me some pics chipsmotorsports@gmail.com before you decide to send them in.
Thanks

I'm still a little ways away. That's awesome to know they're still good.

I'll definitely be in touch.

Thanks!

NoDOHC will become famous soon enough
Why does the center plate look like it is from an NA engine? I can't see the Intake port edge to look for a tapped hole above the ports, but the oil fill is distinctly from an NA engine.

That's because it's a N/A filler neck on a S4 TII center plate

These look SO MUCH better than they did when I sent them. Awesome work! I can't wait to get these back in my hands.
